ATDen Shorter Programs

Trainee for a day

This program is designed for serious pupils of the Technique who would like to immerse themselves for a day in an atmosphere supportive of learning more about the work and themselves. Visits by “trainees for a day” are scheduled during course hours, currently Wednesday, 9:00 am to 12:30 pm; Thursday, 6:30 pm to 10:00 pm; Friday, 9:00 am to 12:30 pm; Saturday, 9:00 am to 12:30 pm; Sunday, 10:00 am to 1:30 pm. Participants will receive hands-on work from the faculty and participate in all of the group activities with the other trainees. They may also receive work from experienced trainees and/or from visiting teachers. There is no limit on the number of days you may participate.

Cost: $55 per day.

Please contact the director to schedule your visit.

Serious pupils of the Technique may also be interested in a 3- to 6-week Intensive (see below).

Intensive course

This program involves joining the course for 3 to 6 weeks and can be arranged at any time we are in session. It is designed for people who want an intensive experience of immersion in the Alexander Technique, or for those who are considering training as teachers. We suggest arranging a 6-week session but shorter terms can be arranged if that works better for you.

Intensive pupils will receive the same work from the faculty as the trainees, and also have the opportunity to receive work from visiting teachers and more experienced trainees. If the pupil decides to continue and train as a teacher within a few months of completing the intensive, the time will qualify as either prerequisite lessons for admission into the course, or as the beginning of their training, if they have previously had the prerequisite lessons.

Hours are Wednesday, 9:00 am to 12:30 pm; Thursday, 6:30 pm to 10:00 pm; Friday, 9:00 am to 12:30 pm; Saturday, 9:00 am to 12:30 pm; Sunday, 10:00 am to 1:30 pm (choose 4 out of the 5 sessions per week). Please contact the director to arrange an interview.

Cost per week (including 30-minute private lesson): $270

Cost per week (without private lesson): $220.00

Continuing education for Alexander teachers

This program is designed for teachers of the Alexander Technique who would like to further refine and practice their skills in a supportive environment with guidance from the ATDen faculty. Participants will have input about how they would like their program to be directed. This can include having “turns” from faculty, having hands-on work from faculty while teaching trainees and practice students, and receiving feedback about teaching either within the class context or privately. Course time counts towards the continuing education hours required for ongoing AmSAT membership.

Tuition is pro-rated based on the number of hours and/or days the teacher would like to attend.

Please contact the director to arrange an interview.

Private lessons with the faculty

The director and members of the faculty also teach privately and accept students of any level including beginners. Please contact a faculty member to discuss scheduling and rates.

Beginning practice students

If you haven’t yet studied Alexander Technique and would like to have private lessons at a low cost, this program is an excellent way to start. You can sign up to be a practice student. You will receive 10 lessons from a 3rd year trainee for the low cost of $15 per lesson. You can then continue with private lessons, or come in to the course as a visiting practice student.

Visiting practice students

Designed for pupils of the technique who have had some lessons and would like to come in and receive work from trainees. Visiting practice students may attend for 30 minutes or more for the first two hours of almost any day we are in session, but by appointment only. Call or text 720.839.2549 to schedule.

Cost: $8.00 (free if currently taking private lessons with a teacher)
